Good morning. [The woman carefully folds her hands in her lap, ignoring the Gothita beside her making a kissy face at the camera.] I am told that this object is ‘broadcasting’ what it sees to whosoever owns another one of its kind, so I decided that I should introduce myself.

[She inclines her head slightly, flashing a beautiful smile.] I am Miss Justine Florbelle. Don’t concern yourself with explaining the current situation to me—people already have, yet I find myself quite displaced. Not by the animals—they, I have accepted. [Adaptable, Ziva can respect that. Her appearance is probably not as jarring as Heather's--Ziva is still very obviously feminine, with long hair and makeup--though her clothes are still very much closer to masculine than Justine is used to. Pants and all.]

I imagine you have had a chorus of responses with the date. I admit, I was not as severely displaced upon my arrival.

[Justine arches her eyebrow, because while Ziva isn't as jarring as Heather, she's still a little confusing.]

All evidence seems to imply that crossdressing has become popular among women. Is this true?

Women's clothing has changed quite a lot over the years. We are no longer expected to wear corsets and skirts unless we wish to.

[She rests her chin on her hands and looks amused as she continues.]

For many of us, it verges on impractical. I assure you, any man wearing clothing cut like mine would be the one accused of crossdressing.

No corsets or skirts? [Wait, give her a second to boggle at how weird that is. And then at how damn lucky you are, because she perpetually feels like she's on the edge of passing out with a corset this tight on. She's from smack at the ending years of popular corsets, when they've long become impractical for anything other than making a woman look skinny before destroying her body.] The corsets, I can begin to understand falling out of fashion. Skirts, though? If I raise my skirts above my ankles, the women are talking about it for weeks. I can't see society at large approving of women showing the shape of their legs like that.

[It may not be entirely noticeable for a liberated woman like Ziva, but the fact that Justine even mentions showing her ankles in public is a huge sign that she doesn't necessarily adhere to her time's ideals of ladylike behavior.]

[Ziva looks wickedly amused.]

If those ladies saw the way many women from my time dress, they would never recover.

Women concealing themselves in yards and yards of clothing is now mainly reserved for the devoutly religious and those who live in particularly cold places.

We do have our own difficulties with clothing--whichever man decided stiletto heels were practical footwear needs to be forced to walk a mile in them.

Oh, you haven't the slightest, Miss David. They would have an absolute fit.
